Karlie makes you smile – she is sweet, fresh and alert, an Avatar goddess of an 18 year old who just cannot believe the people swarming her really want to see her… this was my evening hanging with Karlie Kloss at Fashion’s Night Out. Despite photographers and fans, she bows low to hear my questions and answers each with earnest sincere charm. She wants to be a doctor, a vet – she love s animals, but realistically confides her career is ‘doing pretty well’ and she should probably model for a while longer. She loves the shows in Milan and Paris, and returning to her life in St. Louis, to her mother’s home cooked meals, and her sisters, and high school friends.
This refreshing, regular girl is my muse of the month.
KOTUR: What’s in your makeup bag?
KARLIE: Laura Mercier under eye concealer – it’s really the best.
KOTUR: What would you bring with you to a desert island?
KARLIE: My 3 sisters… and a cute boy.
KOTUR: What’s your favorite item in your closet?
KARLIE: The Dior bag Galliano gave me after I shot his campaign – for sentimental value. I still want a KOTUR bag!
KOTUR: Biggest fashion mistake?
KARLIE: Oh, everyday! Well, I try to obey all the rules; no white after Labor day – does that count?
KOTUR: Can you judge a book by its cover?
KARLIE: Oh gosh, I’m on the fence! I would say yes, but people do surprise me, so… no?
KOTUR: What do you wear to bed?
KARLIE: My 2009 FNO T-shirt. No really, it’s true! Ask my mom!
KOTUR: What is your most recent purchase?
KARLIE: Oh, basic t-shirts from H&M… I’m a total bargain hunter.
KOTUR: How would your girlfriends describe your style?
KARLIE: Boring, I guess.

KARLIE: (with a laugh) Chic, simple, classic… or just boring!

KARLIE: 0! I’m so tall and gawky!
KOTUR: Now that you just turned 18, what will you do?
KARLIE: Get a tattoo – a big FNO logo! Just joking – now I can vote.

KARLIE: My mom’s lasagna.
