Forget fashion week as the only event worth knowing in the catwalk calendar, these days there’s a festival up there with the best of the runways when it comes to being the place to debut a look. We’re talking, of course, of Coachella, the 8 day Palm Springs music extravaganza that is also one big fashion moment. From hippie inspired chic to boho dresses, suede separates to T shirt shifts, the way to go is footloose, fancy free and fabulously dressed (of course.) Click through our gallery above for three ways we’ll be wearing it at Coachella this year.

1. As ably demonstrated by Rosie Huntington Whiteley, shorts don’t need to read sloppy. Take yours printed or even better with a touch of sparkle, pair with a simple crisp white top and ankle boots and you’ll be ticking the too cool boxes without looking like a teenage wannabe. Necklace by CC Skye from www.shopbop.com, Jalouse boots from Ash, and BYT frieda bag available here.

2. Taking your lead from the ever chic Diane Kruger, work an easy T shirt dress to take you from a hot spring day through to a party night. Go for statement numbers – colour and print are the orders of the day here – and pair with simple brown accessories for just enough of that boho twist. 3. Ever the ice maiden, channel Kate Bosworth’s take on minimal festival chic for the on trend route to party dressing this summer. Simple leather and suede separates in a nude palette work brilliantly with boho accessories.
