27 AUGUST 2013 | DAMES IN THEIR DRAWING ROOMS

When it comes to an instant home update, wallpapers are a brilliant way to go. Whether fashioned for a feature wall or worked into a top to toe look (check out Diana Vreeland’s approach to design in our blog here for an homage to that,) they inject personality and pizazz without too much time or effort. Key, obviously, is finding the right paper – that magic print or pattern that provides difference and workability in equal parts to deliver a freshen up for your home. The Brits have a great selection of smaller brands who offer a slightly irreverent take on the wallpaper questions. Click through our gallery above to see three of our current favorites great designs.

Barneby Gates: This design duo are known for their quirky take on British insignia and heritage chic. Classic with a twist, their designs are often humorous, come in beautiful rich colours and are particularly fabulous with metallic touches that would provide just a tweak of rock and roll to your home. www.barnebygates.com

Turner Pocock Cazalet: If you’re after standout colours and whimsical, graphic designs, then Turner Pocock Cazalet might be just the ticket for you. From cricket bats to zebras, tennis rackets to owls, their statement papers prove a talking point and deliver something fresh and new. www.turnerpocockcazalet.com

Cole and Son: This British wallpaper maker has long been the place to look for statement making prints. Their palm fronds, flamingos and collaborations with Vivienne Westwood prove firm favorites time and again – giving a modern vintage feel to the rooms they are used in.  www.cole-and-son.com
