The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton: Not only did Catton’s second novel propel her to being the youngest ever winner of the Man Booker Prize, but it also proves to be a completely compelling read. Set in 19th Century New Zealand, this brilliantly written book is full of intrigue and twists and turns – definitely one to lose yourself in.

An Officer and A Spy by Robert Harris: When it comes to historical fiction and gripping thrillers, Harris is hard to beat, not least in this, his latest novel and a retelling of the infamous Dreyfus affair of 19th Century France. Fast and unputdownable.

Swans by Nick Foulkes: Billed as a book detailing the legends of the jet set full of tales of glamour, excitement, and exclusivity, Nick Foulkes tome unveils a bygone world of 1960’s glamour.

Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter: One of last year’s hottest reads and a book that comes highly recommended in the Kotur office, Walter’s novel is set on the lovely Ligurian coast of Italy and takes in love affairs, scandals and plenty of Hollywood glamour, too.
