The Sputnik Chandelier

As one of the key pieces to come out of the Atomic Age of design seen in the 1940’s and 1950’s, the Sputnik was born of a time when the world (especially America,) was consumed with thoughts of the space race. With many creative minds and imaginations inspired by all things atomic – just look at the Jetsons arrival on TV as proof – the Sputnik (named after the Russian satellite launched in 1957) with it’s atomic prongs and chrome design proved a staple living room piece for many homes of that era.  It lives on today as a design classic – and fun touch – for any home.
